There has been an increase in fraudulent text messages that impersonate Apple and attempt to trick recipients into sharing sensitive personal and financial information. Here’s what to watch for:

Messages claiming

  • Unauthorized Apple Pay charges

  • Locked Apple IDs

  • Suspended or compromised accounts

  • Urgent calls to click on a link or call a number immediately

How to verify

  • Do NOT click links or call numbers provided in suspicious messages.

  • Apple Pay: Check transactions directly in your iPhone’s Wallet app.

  • Apple ID: Go to Settings > tap your name to view your account details.

  • Apple Support: Contact Apple using a verified phone number from their official website.

How to Protect Yourself & Report Scams

  • Report phishing: Take a screenshot and email it to reportphishing@apple.com.

  • Block the sender: Mark the message as junk and block the number in your Messages app.

  • Maintain security settings: Apple will never ask you to disable features like two-factor authentication or Stolen Device Protection.
